Map of Spain

Spain is a lovely place to visit, with one of Europe’s best climates and friendly people to boot. A vacation to Spain will leave you with some amazing lasting memories. Travel around this wonderful country is easy. You can’t escape Spain’s history and culture even if you wanted to. It is simply everywhere. Spain wears it’s history proudly from the Basque region in the north to the borders of Portugal in the south. A summer holiday in Spain is something everyone should at least once in their life. The warm weather will even allow for you to backpack around Spain and if you cant get accommodation just camp somewhere. All you really need is a sleeping bag and a small roll up mattress, this is even better (safer) if you do it as a group. As with anywhere there are elements that could spoil your holiday so make sure to take out some good travel insurance. There are many good travel insurance companies around the web, so do some research and ask your travel agent to get you some quotes. However make sure you check as travel agents can often have incentives to push certain insurance policies and may not always be offering the cheapest or the best. A good map of Spain will not go amiss when travelling through this wonderful country.

Cheap tickets to Spain are always on offer. Budget airlines are constantly fighting each other for business. If you wait and time your purchases right you can get some incredible deals. Spain has one of the best train networks in Europe and rail is a viable alternative to flying. The beauty of rail is that it also lets you take in the magnificent vistas that the countryside offers, rather than just flying over the top of it.

Like France, every type of tourism is catered for. Scenic tourism, cultural tourism, historical tourism, relaxation and shopping. You can do one or more of these in a day. You could take in the historical sites of Madrid by day and then go out to some of the best restaurants, bars and cafes at night. Culture comes in many forms and Madrid has them all from bull fights and running with the bulls all the way through to opera. Madrid has been voted one of the worlds most liveable cities on a number of occasions and there is no wonder why. A gorgeous town with a wonderfully friendly population.

Here are some facts about Spain

Map of Albania

Albania Map

For 2019 we have added a new Albania map. The old one was starting to look a bit dated and a few things had changed since that map was drawn.

Words cannot describe the beautiful and almost untouched coastlines in Albania. You can walk across Europe and still come back to Albania for a wonderful beach experience. As you enjoy the silence and tranquility of the beaches, you cannot help but notice two great things other beaches fail to offer; privacy and solitude. It.s as if you are all alone in paradise with nothing to worry about. All you can see around you is but the blue waters and the stretched white sands across the coastline. One wishes the holiday and the vacation would last a lifetime.

The Albanian weather tends to vary from north to south as the country lies in latitude. With perfect summer temperatures of up to 24 Celsius (75 Fahrenheit), one can peacefully raft in the waters or just bask along the coastline. Temperatures during winter may be as low as 7 °C (45 °F) which is perfect for sightseeing. One of the coolest things you cannot fail to notice is the cool Mediterranean weather in the coastal lowland and the pleasant Mediterranean climate of the highlands. This weather characteristics completely alien to top European travel destinations.

Nature lovers will definitely fall in love with the rich biological diversity of Albania. The country is rich in both flora and fauna. A third of Albania is forested with over 3000 plant species growing in some of these forests. The forests are home to several mammals like the lynx, wild bears, wolves and foxes as well as the rare wildcat. Different bird species also inhabit the forests. A good example of such birds is the golden eagle which is Albania.s national symbol.

There are several car rental services in Albania where you can rent a car for few days to get around the city. The car rental services are offered at affordable rates and pricing depends on factors like the make of the car and how long you intend to hire the car. Other car rental services can also be found online through the respective car rental websites.

The Albanian cuisine is arguably one of the best you will come across in the Europe. It is a blend of the Italian, Greek and Turkish cuisine. The main dish is known asgjellë and is always served with salads, mostly during lunchtimes which is Albanians main meal. In other areas especially along the coast and lakes, seafood is very common but still, you will not fail to notice the famous gjellë. It’s almost like the Americans and pizza.

If you are visiting Albania for the first time, be sure of having your way around and enjoying you holiday or vacation. Travel Albania and have fun as the map of Albania is easy to follow. The Albanian people are friendly and will help you find your way around Albania should you get lost. With a population of over 800,000, Tirana, the Albanian capital city is an easy to go through city. Here you will find good hotels and people who speak good English, something that spices up you entire vacation in Albania.

Map of Refugee Routes into Europe

Map of regugee Routes into Europe

We have provided a map of some of the refugee routes into Europe. Refugees fleeing conflicts in Syria, Libya and Iraq have had to mobilize and move out of their respective countries due to the escalation in violence. We at map of Europe will be developing a series of maps that we are hoping will help refugees flee the awful violence that is happening in their homelands. We are also hoping to educate non-refugees as to the plight of these poor people.

There has been a lot of scare mongering in the mainstream media and in our own little way we are trying to offset this with some rational discussion. We do understand that some individuals fleeing these war zones are not refugees but the overwhelming majority are and these people need to be treated with some respect and sympathy.

Map of Portugal

Portugal is sometimes considered Spain’s little brother. Although if you asked the Portuguese, they would hotly dispute this! However having said that, the Portuguese people have the same easy going manner as the Spanish and are friendly and generally happy to help out the lost tourist. Portugal is truly a great country to tour. A very modern country it boasts all the things you would expect from a civilised European country. Things like great roads, excellent railway network and fabulous mobile phone coverage.

Travelling Portugal can be very cheap as it tends to be overlooked compared to the bigger tourist centres such as Spain and France . This can be used to your advantage when booking hotels and flights and rental cars. As the Portuguese love to haggle. Mentioning that it was cheaper in some other country, can often fire up the competitive streak that is found in almost all Portuguese.

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and is as cosmopolitan as any of the other cultural centres of Europe, such as Madrid, Rome or Vienna. It boasts a population of about a half a million people (545,245 population), which is small when compared to many other European capitals. It is still a big enough population base to give the city a wonderful international feel. However it is not to big to feel crowded and constricted. It is definitely one of Europe’s most liveable cities and with its growing financial centre, it is quickly becoming a city of the affluent.

Portugal being situated where it is, is one of the southern most countries in Europe and there fore experiences a very mild climate. Lisbon is known to have the warmest winters of any European capital city and the rest of the country follows Lisbon’s lead. It’s position within the European continent has often meant that rampaging armies have used it as a base to either attack northern Africa or as a staging place to attack Europe. This was especially so during the Muslim period when the Moors from northern Africa attacked Europe and reached deep into Portugal and Spain. They were eventually pushed out by the Christians however the Moors left a lot of influences on the Portuguese population that carries through to this day. This cultural heritage is wonderful and makes travelling through Portugal a joy as the food definitely has a Moroccan feel about it with lovely aromatic spices featuring heavily.

A good  map of Portugal is a must when touring this country. in these days of gps units, which are fantastic! It is nice to have a paper backup just in case. Even though the mobile/cell phone network is excellent you can not always get a signal as is the case in any part of the world, so you can’t rely totally on the internet for your directions. Have a  backup plan and the lack of worry will allow you to better enjoy your trip.

Map of Malta

Malta is a country of Europe made of three small islands. It has a population of over 300,000 people and the capital city is Valletta. The three main islands that make up Malta are Malta, Gozo and Comino. Each one of these islands is small but magnificent in its own way. Malta’s official languages are Maltese and English. The terrains of the three islands are low and almost plateauflat. The country has a republican form of governance led by the president. Though small in both size and population, Malta is an active member of the European Union and takes part in making key decisions of the union.

Getting cheap flights can be challenging for anyone thinking of flying to Malta. The only way you can come across a cheap ticket to travel Malta is during the rare times airlines mark celebrations or during festive seasons where there are offers and flight tickets rates are greatly reduced. An important thing you have to ensure you have is a good insurance travel cover. This will take good care of you should anything happen during the time of your journey. With good travel insurance, you can be sure you are in safe hands no matter what happens.

There are also wonderful coastal games that can be enjoyed in the beach like the beach soccer or the beach volley ball. Then there are the mouthwatering seafood and drinks that have distinct tastes and flavors experienced nowhere else in the world. They are available in all the big hotels and restaurants in Malta at affordable prices. They can be enjoyed on the beach with cool breeze or one can make an order for room service and enjoy the delicacies in his or her own privacy. With such a nice treatment, one feels like a king or queen and may easily think of extending his or her days in the wonderful island of Malta. They simply know how to make their guests feel at home.

Macedonia, also known as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is quite visited because of its low economic and social status within the community of Europe.

3 Key Destinations in Macedonia

If you plan to go overseas, make sure to have comprehensive travel insurance to prepare for any worst things that may happen on your way. Taking this approach would prevent any nasty situations like medical or hospital bills during your holiday trip.

It has not been long ago since the Western Europeans have discovered this hidden treasure in the east. Although Macedonia has struggles to survive in terms of its economic and political status, tourism has never been compromised.

These are 3 of the most popular destinations to travel Macedonia

  • The Monasteries – It is quite a surprise that Macedonia has the affluence of historical monasteries scattered all over the country. Their monasteries are remains of the Orthodox Christian belief dating back to 1000 A.D. Although the Sveti Jovan Bigorski monastery has been affected by a fire last 2009, majority of it stands unaffected.
  • The Lake Ohrid – The crystal clear, blue green waters of this splendid lake is just the right place to visit. The township being located on the border of Macedonia and the eastern part of Albania has been developed into a mecca for German tourists whose looking for a more reasonable deal compared to the more expensive destinations in the Mediterranean coastline.
  • The Strumica – This adorable town is the largest in the Eastern part of Macedonia which has an eclectic array of old monasteries, modern bars and cafes, and architectural remains of the flamboyant Middle East. The place can be associated with some parts of Paris, without much expense. This makes a fun and luxurious holiday without breaking the bank.

As a bonus these types of trips can be cheaper. Historical travel – Greece has a long and well documented history. Much has been bequeathed to the modern world by the ancient Greeks.
