Here we have a map of one of the newest republics of Europe. TheĀ Republic of Kosovo seceded from Serbia in 2008 and has been a hotly disputed territory ever since. With a population of about 1.8 million citizens and a land size of aboutĀ 10,908 km2, it is one of the smallest also. The capital of the republic is Pristina and the population is heavily dominated by Albanians. They make about 92% of the population and most follow the religion of Sunni Islam. However freedom of religion has been laid down in the new constitution. The Albanians know what religious persecution can do and want to avoid this in the future.
